Any one of numerous sparoid food fishes, as the jolthead
porgy, the sheepshead porgy ({Calamus penna}) of the West
Indies, the grass porgy ({Calamus arctifrons}) of Florida,
and the red porgy ({Pagrus pagrus}) of Europe.
