1. The state or quality of being particular; distinctiveness;
   circumstantiality; minuteness in detail.
2. That which is particular; as:
   (a) Peculiar quality; individual characteristic;
       peculiarity. ``An old heathen altar with this
       particularity.'' --Addison.
   (b) Special circumstance; minute detail; particular.
