  1. \Ven"er*y\, n. [L. Venus, Veneris, the goddess of love.]
    Sexual love; sexual intercourse; coition.
          Contentment, without the pleasure of lawful venery, is
          continence; of unlawful, chastity.       --Grew.
    
  2. \Ven"er*y\, n. [OE. venerie, F. v['e]nerie, fr. OF. vener
    to hunt, L. venari. See {Venison}.]
    The art, act, or practice of hunting; the sports of the
    chase. ``Beasts of venery and fishes.'' --Sir T. Browne.
