  1. \Scrine\, n. [L. scrinium a case for books, letters,
    etc.: cf. OF. escrin, F. ['e]crin. See {Shrine}.]
    A chest, bookcase, or other place, where writings or
    curiosities are deposited; a shrine. [Obs.]
          But laid them up in immortial scrine.    --Spenser.
