\Scap"o*lite\ (sk[a^]p"[-o]*l[imac]t), n. [Gr. ? a staff, or L. scapus a stem, stalk + -lite: cf. F. scapolite.] (Mon.) A grayish white mineral occuring in tetragonal crystals and in cleavable masses. It is essentially a silicate of alumina and soda. Note: The scapolite group includes scapolite proper, or wernerite, also meionite, dipyre, etc.
