Fourteen-year-old William is a bright, hard-working, and loyal apprentice to his kind master, the printer, Mr. Currie. Born a Narraganset Indian and named Weetasket, he and his twin brother escaped when the English attacked his settlement, but were later captured and separated. William was then indentured to the Curries. Working as a printer by day, William becomes Weetasket at night, sneaking out after curfew and searching for his brother--and his own Indian past.

1. (Rom. Antiq.) The festival of Saturn, celebrated in
   December, originally during one day, but afterward during
   seven days, as a period of unrestrained license and
