Having rotted; putrid; decayed; as, a rotten apple; rotten
meat. Hence:
(a) Offensive to the smell; fetid; disgusting.

(b) Not firm or trusty; unsound; defective; treacherous;
unsafe; as, a rotten plank, bone, stone. ``The deepness
