A prickly tropical shrub ({C[ae]salpinia, formerly Poinciana,
pulcherrima}), with bipinnate leaves, and racemes of showy
orange-red flowers with long crimson filaments.
Note: The genus {Poinciana} is kept up for three trees of
Eastern Africa, the Mascarene Islands, and India.
