Off-Season
John Clyde Black Jack Cagle, Jr., is a wildly successful ballplayer who donates a baseball field to his small Missouri home town. When he returns to dedicate the field, a shameful secret from his past surfaces again when his old friend Cyrus, a black auto mechanic, is murdered. Few people know that Jack owes his success to Cyrus, and he feels compelled to investigate the murder, and to exonerate Cyrus`s wife, Ruby, who has been unjustly charged with the crime.
