\Ek`a*sil"i*con\, n. [Skr. [=e]ka one + E. silicon.]
(Chem.)
The name of a hypothetical element predicted and afterwards
discovered and named {germanium}; -- so called because it was
a missing analogue of the silicon group. See {Germanium}, and
cf. {Ekabor}.
