brocart), fr. LL. brocare *prick, to figure (textile
fabrics), to emboss (linen), to stitch. See {Broach}.]
Silk stuff, woven with gold and silver threads, or ornamented
with raised flowers, foliage, etc.; -- also applied to other
stuffs thus wrought and enriched.
