Tibetan Tiger Hand-Knotted Carpet 3' x 5'1 (Nepal) This extraordinary carpet is made by Tsondu Tharchin, a talented Tibetan Refugee in Nepal. By crafting his traditional hand-knotted creations, Tsondu is able to support his community and culture in exile. Each 100-percent-wool carpet is certified by the RUGMARK Foundation, which verifies that only adults participate in the carpet-making process. Children have never been employed in any stage of the making of Tibetan Refugee Settlement carpets. Tiger pelt carpets have been some of the most coveted creations of the Tibetan craftspeople. They feature 100 knots per square inch, which results in a depth, richness, and durability unmatched by lesser carpets. Color banding in the main field of the carpet reveals the hand-dyed yarn. This carpet combines the traditional Tibetan tiger design with an exceptionally beautiful and contemporary design. A beautiful tan and brown tiger striped field is surrounded by an ornate ribbon of cream and tan, all of which is bordered by a rich green surround decorated by alternating flowers of blue and red. Be sure to look closely at the detail of this one-of-a-kind carpet. Due to the handcrafted, hand-dyeing process and difference of monitor colors, some rug colors may vary slightly. Overstock.com tries to accurately represent all rug colors. Please refer to the text above for a description of the colors shown in the photo. All measurements are approximate.
