Josheghan Handknotted Persian Rug - 7'9 x 11' (Iran)
Josheghan rugs are authentic hand-woven Persian rugs, made in the areas surrounding Isfahan in Central Iran. The town of Josheghan is very ancient and is sometimes referred to as Maymeh. Finer pieces from this area are referred to as Joshegan and fair quality rugs woven here are referred to as Maymeh. The designs are similar to Qashqai or other geometric tribal rugs. Joshaghan's signature design consists of geometric floral motifs arranged in the shape of diamonds. Sometimes geometric versions of the willow tree and gul hannai in diamond arrangements are among the floral motifs. This design may be woven in an all-over or medallion-and-corner layout. The main color in the rug is red, accented with many blue, black, orange, green, and ivory tones. The quality is perhaps one of the highest among the tribal family of rugs. Slight variation in the color and designs in each piece is normal in handmade rugs. Due to the difference of monitor colors, some rug colors may vary slightly. Overstock.com tries to represent all rug colors accurately. Please refer to the text above for a description of the colors shown in the photo.
