This biography of the central figure in the Pentagon Papers case, Daniel Ellsberg, tells how a former Marine made a fateful decision in 1971 to reveal classified information to the press in order to protest the war in Vietnam. The Pentagon Papers became perhaps the biggest news story of that year, and Ellsberg paid a price--he was indicted though never prosecuted.
