Adolescent-minded Amanda, a violinist and communications system hacker, bumbles into Matthewmark`s life, and romance and intrigue ensue. Matthewmark hails from a religious enclave called the Valley of the God of One`s Choice, a decidedly low-tech group in a high-tech future. Observing them, and all of humanity, is a resurrected scientist obsessed with AI, who realizes that an AI--is it the one he created?--controls and possibly created the reality he inhabits. As Amanda and Matthewmark dig deeper into a subterranean world of intrigue, the scientist attempts to unravel the essence of the ever-expanding AI.
