| Definition: | | Satchel Paige This picture-book biography tells the story of the star baseball player, Leroy Satchel Paige. Born in 1906, Leroy grew up in Mobile, Alabama. He worked in a train station where he assisted passengers with their luggage, and because of this, earned the nickname Satchel. After he learned how to play the game of baseball, he went to play for the Negro Leagues. He later played in the Majors, and in 1971 was inducted into the Hall of Fame.
