- A disease affecting children which is characterized by joint inflammation, enlarged lymph nodes and fever.
- Juvenile rheumatoid arthritis is rheumatoid arthritis with onset before 17 years old with immunogenetic traits that are different from the adult form of rheumatoid arthritis. However, treatment is similar. Four forms of juvenile rheumatoid arthritis are recognized:
- polyarticular form: symmetric arthritis, low-grade fever, rheumatoid nodules
- oligoarticular form: asymmetric arthritis of large weight-bearing joints, iridocyclitis
- systemic-onset disease (Still's disease): acute fever, rash, enlarged spleen and liver
- juvenile form of ankylosing spondylitis: late childhood, mainly in boys, HLA-B27 present
