Actress Anne Bancroft adds writing and directing to her many talents in this zany, easy-to-identify-with comedy about a man who simply can't stop eating. Dominick DiNapoli (Dom DeLuise) is a jovial. overweight fellow who loves food more than life itself. When his younger cousin dies of obesity, his overwrought sister (Bancroft) hounds him to change his compulsive ways. But it is not until he meets Lydia (Candice Azzara) that he is even somewhat distracted from pleasing his stomach. Encouraged by her genuine affection, Dominick tries endlessly to subdue his cravings, but the crash diets, self-help groups and supportive relatives only manage to slim his chances for success.
