Breathing Room
Norma, who is African American, is having an affair with a white professor; Moxie, her old college pal, is a single mother who counsels troubled adolescents; Moxie`s daughter Zadi is a teenager who wants to be a dancer and who must cope with racism at her largely white school. The novel explores these three women`s attitudes toward the world and toward each other.
