Breach of Duty
Seattle police detective J.P. Beaumont has a troublesome new boss, an exciting new partner, and two seemingly unrelated cases to solve in this 14th series installment. The first case pits Beau and partner Sue Danielson against an unknown arsonist responsible for the death of an elderly widow who had a habit of keeping her savings--$300,000--in an old refrigerator in her garage. The second case involves several bizarre deaths--all related to the skeleton of a Native American shaman that was possibly stolen from a sacred Quinault burial ground. Suspense aside, readers may catch up with Beau`s personal life as he bravely manages to stay alcohol-free. They may also become acquainted with Sue, who is struggling with the sudden reappearance of her abusive ex-husband.
