Auslander
This story, which takes place in the hill country of Texas from 1967 to 1987, is narrated by four German-American women who see themselves to varying degrees as auslanders, people who don`t fit in. As society undergoes profound changes, the women discover that their lives are also in transition. The characters include the flighty Sheila, her rebellious daughter Carol Anne, and the lonely Vera Jahn, an educated woman who stubbornly remains single.
