Mephisto
Hendrik Hofgren is obsessed with becoming a famous actor. When the Nazis come to power in Germany, he sees his opportunity. He renounces his communist past, deserts both wife and mistress, and makes a sensation in the timely part of Mephistopheles. He attracts the patronage of Hermann Goring who makes him head of the State Theatre and a cultural icon. But Hendrik`s conscience begins to haunt him.
