?, a foot: cf. F. phalarope.] (Zo["o]l.)
Any species of {Phalaropus} and allied genera of small wading
birds ({Grall[ae]}), having lobate toes. They are often seen
far from land, swimming in large flocks. Called also {sea
goose}.
