1. A prefix signifying over, above; as, hyperphysical,
hyperthyrion; also, above measure, abnormally great,
excessive; as, hyper[ae]mia, hyperbola, hypercritical,
hypersecretion.
2. (Chem.) A prefix equivalent to super- or per-; as
hyperoxide, or peroxide. [Obs.] See {Per-}.
