Mickey is determined to win first prize in a contest being held for 10-13 year-olds at the local pool hall. However, his main competition is Buck Pender, a tough kid who is three years older than Mickey. When Joseph Alvarez, an old friend of Mickey`s father, offers to help him improve his pool skills, Mickey is thrilled but his mother is distrustful. Will Mickey be able to win the contest without betraying his mother?
