Busch takes one of his short stories, Ralph the Duck , and expands it into a literary thriller about a security guard named Jack, whose marriage to Fanny has deteriorated since the death of their infant daughter. Partly to assuage his own pain, Jack participates in a hunt for a missing teenager and becomes obsessed with finding lost children.
